CURRENT GOINGS-ON: the State of Sam’s Sleep
April 19th, 2006
For the past week or so I have been using a 3-hour core sleep, usually somewhere between 10PM-2AM and 1AM-4AM. This has so far eliminated my oversleeps, and I am sleeping a total of about 5 hours per 24-hour period. After this first week, I’m feeling like this is definitely sustainable. Right now I’m only gaining about 2-3 hours of time per 24 hours period, but I feel like I’m gaining more than that. I believe that is due to the 4 hours of useful time I now have during the night, which is partially offset by the naps I take all day.
I have also started to re-introduce exercise - I ran for 20 minutes this morning and am feeling ok. We’ll see if this leads to an oversleep tonight. While I intend to try to cut my core sleep down to 1.5 hours, I am going to make sure the exercise works first, as I need to be able to get that part of my life back.
